A day or so before our session, I will text or email you the address where we will meet once I know the hourly forecast and that we are clear of rain. Overcast weather is great for photos, so don't let a dreary day worry you! Because men tend to get a bit nervous before photos (okay let's be real... they're just not into taking photos!), I am extremely casual during my sessions and we have a lot of fun without putting pressure on the poses and having everything be picture perfect. By keeping it light and fun, we get real smiles and laughs, and most guys leave saying how happy they are that it was quick and easy! Please don't hesitate to bring Pinterest ideas and poses you love so that we can use them for inspiration.
What to wear
Colors that look awesome outdoors:
olive green, navy, cream, maroon, mustard yellow, denim, white, pops of pattern/prints, plaid, shades of blue, neutrals
Things to avoid:
very very thin stripes, too many patterns, neons, bright bold colors (like bright solid red and bright solid green), and too much black (some black is okay! just try to avoid having everyone in head to toe black)
here are some of my favorite affordable outfits on amazon! make sure to click into each listing to see all the different colors and prints for each item!
click the button below to shop my favorite Amazon looks- so affordable and very cute for the whole family! For women, I also love Phoenix + Kate, an online boutique out of Vacaville with free local delivery (heck yeah!), who is offering 20% off to my clients using code CADY20.
kids + props
If you're bringing kiddos please have a "bribe" in mind. It can be fruit snacks, ice cream, tv time, etc. Having a bribe helps with expected meltdowns and keeps on track time-wise. I love children and look forward to getting lots of laughs and smiles while we're having fun together.
If your kids are very, very fair, you might consider one swipe of mascara on their eyelashes to make their eyes pop more in photos- this is just a suggestion and absolutely *not* a requirement!
Props, babies, puppies, etc! If you’re wondering about how you can make your experience personal and memorable, feel free to bring along any props that are special to you. If you have a pet that is part of your family (dog, cat, guinea pig, bunny... just no snakes please...!) feel free to bring them along for photos. Holiday props, pretty blankets, and extra-cheesy ideas are welcome! I always have some fall / holiday decor with me, as well as a blanket, but you are welcome to bring your own that matches your outfits.
Don't be nervous!
It’s more than okay to feel nervous! Please know that I do not expect you to be models. My job is to direct you in a way that helps you relax, feel natural, and be your true comfortable selves in front of my lens. Don’t worry if you are feeling nervous, I’ll be sure the end result is something you will love! A lot of men and children tend to clam up in front of a camera, so I keep the whole experience very laid-back and casual so that (hopefully!) everyone feels comfortable and is having fun. I will also tell you how to pose, fix your hair, etc!
FYI- The couple on the left told me "we are super awkward in photos" the second they got to their session. But look how their photos turned out!
payment + turnaround on gallery
I accept cash (preferred) or Venmo ONLY, and payment is due at the time of our session.
My turnaround is two weeks from the date of our session, and I always aim to get them back sooner!
All images will be edited in my style as a finished product, with complimentary light smoothing of skin and removal of small, non permanent facial imperfections. I do not release the unedited/RAW images as they are not a representation of my work, thank you for understanding.
how do i print my photos?
Good question! You can purchase directly through your gallery, and the prices are super affordable. Simply add each photo to your cart and choose what size you'd like, and you can even crop them or turn them black and white. I can't wait to see which ones are your favorites!
